Representative Fred Crespo Named 2014 Legislator of the Year for Staffing Services Assoc. of Illinois

ELMHURST—State Representative Fred Crespo, D-Hoffman Estates, received the Legislator of the Year award on October 14 from the Staffing Services Association of Illinois (SSAI) for his outstanding commitment to both employers and employees in Illinois.

Crespo has been serving the in the House of Representatives since 2007. He presently serves on many committees including the Chairman of the House Appropriations General Services Committee, the Vice Chairman of Elementary and Secondary Education, and serves as a member of Business Growth and Incentives Committee.

SSAI’s President Ted Rigas of Elite Staffing presented the award to Crespo and said, “Representative Crespo understands the challenges that face small business but he is also a champion for temporary workers. As Chairman of the House General Services Appropriations Committee, he is working to improve our labor market and create jobs.” SSAI was created over 10 years ago is made up of 25 light industrial staffing companies all that come together as the voice of the industry in Springfield, Illinois.

SSAI was instrumental in the passage of the Illinois Day and Temporary Labor Act that strives to protect and regulate the actions of workers and employers in the staffing agencies. Member companies employ about 200,000 temporary workers annually in Illinois. The award was presented to Representative Crespo at the SSAI fall general membership meeting at the River Forest Country Club in Elmhurst.
